African Women’s Academy for Macroeconomics to Launch in Accra to Promote Economic Justice for Women

Accra, Ghana – The city of Accra is set to host a significant event bringing together a select group of activists and experts from various African countries as part of the African Women’s Academy for Macroeconomics (AFMA). The academy will be held from August 17 to 23, 2025.

Organized by Hope for Future Generations (HFFG) in partnership with several regional and international organizations, this initiative primarily aims to empower activists to effectively influence macroeconomic policies. This will be done by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle the structural barriers that hinder gender equality and economic justice on the African continent.

Throughout the week, the academy will feature a series of workshops and discussion sessions led by experts and specialists in macroeconomics, development, and women’s rights. These sessions will cover key topics such as:

  • Gender-responsive budget analysis.
  • The impact of trade and financial policies on women.
  • How to advocate for policies that promote women’s economic empowerment.

Organizers emphasize the importance of this event in building a new generation of female leaders capable of participating in economic decision-making and addressing the challenges faced by African women socially and economically.

This academy is considered a crucial step toward creating a more inclusive and equitable economic environment in Africa, while highlighting the vital role women play in driving sustainable development.

More details about the academy’s outcomes and the workshops that will be held in Accra will be forthcoming. This event is undoubtedly set to become a turning point in the struggle for economic justice for women across the continent.
